Halifax, 20th Oct. 1826. 10 Domestic, 4 , Springfield, Sept. 27tli A Sketch. -We witnessed a spectacle last week, which we can- not reirain ironi presenting to our readers. It may be the means of exciting reflection, if no effect. There came along the street, a lean, dirty, haggard horse, with scarce substance enough to make a shadow. He was fastened by twine and rags and leather, toan old horse cart, tliat looked as if it was blown together by the wind. In the cart was a man, apparently about 50 years old, ragged, lame and blinop attended by his son a bout 14. The son alisrhted -took a stone quart jug from the cart, and assisted his father to get out. The father topk the son's arm, and thus 5 they passed from store to store enquiring lor rum! On the sightless eyeballs of the premature old man on his trembling limbs on his tattered, garments on his cart, and horse, and harness and (worst of all) on the boy, the son that led him, was written rum! He was made blind by in teinperaiicel ' A duel was recently fought in Florida between young Murat and Col. Macomb of Tallahas see, in which the former was wounded but not severely. A contented mind spreads ease and cheerfulness around it.
