COTTOX PRESS.
rjMIK Subscriber informs his friends
and the public in general, that lie
has invented a new and useful
Machine for Packing Collon
IX SCiUAKE BALES,
By the power of a ever acting on a
fulcunt, which drives the follower
thai presses the Cotton into the biile.
The power of this Machine is such,
that from )(0 to :J50 lbs. of Cotton can
l:c pressed into two breadths of 2 inch
lagging, -1 ieet b inches long, with con
siderable ease and in a very short time:
and 500 lb. can be pressed into less
than 5 yards of the same kind of bag
j?;ing, by observing the proper process.
The superior advantages are clearly ma
nifest, for in addition to the small quan
tity of bailing required, which certain
ly is nn object, two hands can with ease
pack from 10 to 1', bales in one day.
The simplicity of this machine, and it.
superior power, are greatly admired by
mechanical artists, and in fact, by all
who have seen it. By a mechanical de
monstration, it is proven that the power
of the Lever and its concomitants are
equal if not superior to any, even to the
Wedge, if properly applied. From the
i'.ih and frequent encomiums which
hdve feen pav on the invention, the
Subscriber is induced to offer it to the
P'iblic as something worthy of their no
tice. An' person that ma want, can
apply to the Subscriber at Halifax, X. C.
i'atent letters having been obtained
irom toe proper authorities, all persons
prohibited from leaking or using the
Mine, without legal right. All infringe
iaf:nts will meet with the rigor of the
lv, made and provided in such caes.
Any mechanic wishing to he benefitted
-V the invention, may by paying a mo-l;-i.iie

"He deems it unnecessary for him to
bestow any encomiums upon this im

Cotton. Suffice it to say, that the ease
and cheapness with which it can be
erected, and the small force required to
work it, are sufficient to recommend it;
saying nothing of its superior power and
