RAN OFF from Beaufort,
North-Carolina, where they
were employed on the Fortifi
cations at that place,
Seven JCegro Fellows,
Towii: MILLIARD, HENRY, LEW
IS, ANTHONY, ROY, ISAAC, and
FRANK. The three first-named Ne
groes were apprehended at Hicks' Ford,
Greensville county, Ya. Anthony and
Roy were af the lime in company with
those apprehended, hut effected their es
cape. Frank was left by the party some
20 or 30 miles beyond Halifax, N. C.
snd Isaac some 5 or 10 miles on this side
cf Halifax, both complaining of sickness
and unable to travel. Frank is a small
Mack fellow, and about 22 years of aire
Isaac is a stout voung fellow, about
. 21 years of age, complexion rather yel
low Aoy is a slender black fellow, a
bout 20 years of age and Anthony is
a stout built black fellow, about 23 years
ofae no particular marks recollected.
The above Negroes were making their
way to Norfolk for the purpose of join
ing me.
A liberal REWARD will be given
for the apprehension of Frank, haac,
Hoy and Anthony, and should they be
delivered to Mr. Nihlo of Petersburg,
he will pay for their apprehension and
all necessary expenses.

and end on the 10th of July. Particu
lar attention will be paid to mares sent
to remain with the horse; separate lots
are provided for mares with young colts,
and they will be fed if required at twenty-five
cents per day. Every attention
will be paid to prevent accidents or es
capes, but no liability for either.

November, 1827, a negro fellow, who
says his name is HENRY, that he is
the property of Mr. James Okrey or
Akrey, and that he was purchased by
Mr. Okrey from Mr. Amos Ravvls, of
Nansemond county, Va. Henry is a
boul 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 in
ches in height, spare built, no marks
perceivable. The owner is requested to
come lorward, prove his property, pay
charges and take him away, or he will
be dealt with as the law directs.

Laughing. Away with all the
systems of physiognomy and cra
niology if you want to find out a
man's character observe his laugh.
There ifever was a bad man that
coutd laugh heartily and cheer
fully. Laughs are of various spe
cies; from the suppressed titter of
the boarding-school Miss, to tho
vociferous hoarse roar of the hon
est farmer. This latter is the
kind of laugh to dispel dull care,
and to promote .good fellowship.
There is no faith to be placed in
a man who won't join in it; watch
him well when he comes to trade
with you. A mere grin, without
the accompanying sound, is not
to be relied on it is merely an
expression of internal selfish ex
ultation; and besides, it has not
the effect upon the system, of a
good, honest, convulsive laugh,
