The majorities for the amendment and the State hem oratio ticket break all records. It is the most sweeping and overwhelming victory the Democrats of North Caro lina have ever won. Both branches of the Legislature are Democratic, by a large majority and Chairman Simmons claims that the Democrats will have four-fifths of each House. Mecklenburg county gives a majority tf :l,o00 for th.L Wilkes amendment .:n-i the State ticket and , Wil--on far as heard from, ia the banner county. The maioritice al! over the Statp fnr exceed the most extravagant estimated ! of the Democratic managers. No accurate return iyive been re ceived from Uladep. Camden, Cherokee, Clay, Currituck. Dare, Grahim, II ij -wood, Hyde, Transylvania, Yadkin and Yancey. In the list given it is shown that eleven counties have been carried by the Republicans, with a tot 1 1 ma jority of about 4.975 against the anir.u. ment. The Democrats have certa:nly carried 67 countle-i with a total major ity of 60.S70. This gives a Demcx-r;ti.-majority of 55.335 for the amendment and the Democratic State ticket. F.ve counties are put down in th- hst as doubtful. Of these the Democrats will probably get three, but the majorities will be small as not to atTect the general result.
