Hassell Below we publish what was said in regard to the Williamston and Greenville markets HI j our issue f the zMh iiist. In making the average fur Green 1 ville, we took a statement from a Greenville paper as to the numliei j of pout.ds sold during the week 1 and the amount of money paid for it during that week. Unfortunate!) we did not keep the pa|>cr nor the date thereof, but remember the ounds to have been in round num bers 1,400 000 and the dulltr> |l6] 000.00. Any one wII icadi ly see that this will make 11 and a fraction cents The week to which we referred was prior to the we« k -in which cur last issue app ared. Following is the article published .with the Kings Weekly s editorial comment: , t The average per pound for to bacco at Greenville last *eek was a fraction over eleven cents. Tbat for. Will ainston for same wan twelve and a I alfcents. -'Thereby han.-» ■ tale." Martin county fanners and others should study compari son®.—Williamston Enterprise, Say Bud, you're fresh. In some of your Bertie free f« rry new road trips you must have had an invol untary Roanoke bath. Or where did you get your wisdom? Now li ten here. Saturday morn ing last the Secretary of the Tobac co Board of Trade informed us that complete reports of that ' last w«ek' had not been sent in and it was impossible for any one to know what Greenville's average was. Say Bud did you ever hear that a man had his hands full attending to bis cwn business even though he had norW Well that s so. Now Jon may have a good tobacco Mar ltd and we ar» glad of it. But API U slinging m. : w ay. Cor we don't want »o hig a job ■ keeping you straight. Don't bust your bellows either.'' Good luck to you, B-.L —King's Weekly, Sept. 30th. The satement that the Williams ton market lead Greenville in the average (or the week mentioned un doubtedly hit Bro. King below the ••belt,'* and when he revived was so confused that he didn't know whether he was in the middle of this week or ' last.'* The sympathy of THE ENTERPRISI is extended to any who lose Iheir head so easily. Hope Ero. King has regained his equilibrium ere this reaches his sanctum sancto rum. If, however, he is still suf feiing from the effect of the blow, together with a "swell head'' caus ed by his recent nomination to the House, w • would respectfully ad vise a plunge in the Tar. Perhaps this would help stick the remnant of reason together sutliciently to enable him to tead things as print ed. Bud is not so fresh that the Wil liamston market cannot afford en ough salt to keep him from spoil ing; and there is no danger of our bellows "busting." Martin county furnishes nothing except good ma terial—even the finest tobacco in the State, and the most of it is be ■ nig sold here too. Now, that's what hurts, is it not? We'll admit that Bud wouM prove rather a large job for Bro. King to keep straight, especially when his own town pa pers furnish the foundation for such statements as above cited. There is 110 doubt as to William ston having 4 good tobacco mark et, but, isn't there a reasonable doubt that the Weekly is not ol it? Would the King's Weekly like to borrow Bud's bellows? There are other authentic statements stored in its sacred confines. HE LEARNED A cRF.AT TKt'TII. It is said of John Wesley that he once MKI to Mrs. Wesley: '*Why 110 yon tell that child the same thing over «nl over A^alii''' "John Wesk-v,because once tell inK is not enough." For mtle'by N.S I'eel A Co. We arc pleased to see the cordial relations manifested by our friends across the river resulting from the new ferry over the Roanoke river. The two towns have always Wen neighborly and had the kindliest feelings for the other. The new road along the bank of the river ami the erection of the cable ferry M.x-tii to have renewed the relation ship. On Friday of last week quite a numlier of our citizens vis ited Williamston and attended the tol>acco sales at the two large ware houses there. And on last Sunday thirty-odd of the citizens of W'il lianiston spent the day ill Windsor. We hope these neighborly visits will coutinue and the towns strive to work in unison for the progress and material development of each other—allowing of course, for nat ural pride aud rivalry.—Windsor Ledger. We gladly copy the above frotn the Ledger, of Windsor, as show ing the cordial feelings existing for the people of Martin county. We are fully in accord with the sentiments expressed, and will al «i)!> gi\e our share of cordialty and can pledge that of all our citi zens both in town and county. Perry, Sr., of Bear Grass township and I woken the family link for the first time. It took a brother and son—beloved and honored, in the flower of young manhood. On Sept. 6th. 1902, Simon S. Perry, Jr., while in the perform ance of the duties on the farm, was stricken down with a congestive chill. Four days later Sis soul glided out into that boundless eter nity to the God of his fathers, there to await the final judgment. He was born on March 28th, 1882, and was twenty years, five months and twelve days old. For some weeks he had had a premonition of some great change in his life, and spoke to his brother of the strange feeling oppressing him. Can we not believe that God in His infinite love and mercy, sjioke to his soul, and that the voice was not unheeded ? There-mains were interred iu the family cemetery at four o'clock on the afternoon of Sept. 12th, Klder Hyman Peel, of the Primitive Bap tist Church, officiating.
