Mason will preach his last sermons at the Baptist church Sunday morning and even ing, and announces that he will take ■ special collection at one of these services for the benefit of the Bap tist Female University, at Raleigh, He is very 'desirous of taking a large collection and hopes that those who attend these services will come prepared to contribute liberally. —Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Newell returned from Baltimore last Fri day where Mr. Newell had been to • hospital for treatment. Everybody was surprised to see them return so soon. But gfter thorough exami nation sad diaguosis the surgeons advised him to spend two or three months or more in a light, dry at- mosphere and he would return a perfectly well man. C. lifted. Mrs. Kmmaliue Yarrell, mother of S. N. Yarrell, died at the home of Mrs W. H. Carstarplieu last Saturday afternoon about one o'clock. Mrs. Yarrell had only lieen sick since the Sunday before. She had a congestive chill Friday uight from which she never rallied. She was about 75 years old.
