County Commissioners Last Monday was the beginning of a new fiscal year for the county I and it was then the new county offices were sworn in and the old ones that were re-elected were also sworn to faUhfuly perform their duty for another term. Messrs James G. Staton, Geo, W. Griffin and Dr. Win K. Warren are the new officials Mr. R. H, Salsbury was elected chairman of of the Board. Biggs, A Little Fun The Williams Comedy Compa nys [comedians gave the town folk quite a little show on main street yesterday afternoon. Happy Hool igan was much in evidence so was Weary Willie, the "Cop" and an other character. For nearly an hour the stores were practically deserted clerks, proprietors, draymen and ail the employees left to witness the performance. The dress and make up of those engaged in the street performance was such that a coun try mule, standing patiently wait ing for his owuer, became a little nervous, having never seen like before and decide that he had t>etter leave, so leave he did. He did n»t run very far however, for 'Veary Willie and his chum were very new and soon stopped the mule When the mule saw his captors the shock to his nervous system was so great that it paralvzed him, he didn't move. The owner had better keep bis weather eye on that male. Mrs. Charles Rives Alley, with Master Sam Rives Chas. Rives Jr. left Wednesday morning foi Gastonia.N. C. where Mr. Alley is located for the winter. In the report of the dance given to Mr. and Mrs. J. Paul Simpson last week, the names of two of the most popular dancers present were omitted through mistake. Thtse were Miss Annye Peele, of Wil liamston and Mr. William Morton, of Robersonville. Mr. John E. Pope who has been in Lexington for some tiuie em ployed by the Lexington House Furnishing Company; has returned to Williainston aud is now employ ed by Anderson,Crawford and Com pany.
