In our last issue we chronicled the serious accident of Miss Sallie Robersou. She suffered with frac tured hip until her death at seven o'tlock last Saturday morning. She had all the attention that skill ed physicians and loving hands could give. The body was buried in the Baptist cemetery Sunday af ternoon, Rev. Sylvester Hassell conducting the funeral services. Miss Robersan was the daugh ter of Joshua and Margaret Rober son. and was born in Jamesville March 4, 1833. moved to Plymouth and lived there until the beginning of the war. when the family went to Scotland Neck In 188* she came to Williamston where she has •ince lived with Mrs. Walter Has sell Lsttar to A. How «iuch is it A gallou saved saves the paint ing too; and both together cost $4 * $S —$4 where labor is cheap; $5 where labor is dear. Our agents in Bridgeport, Conn., Aubhell & Wade Co., tell us: There are a great many working men's houses here. They used to paint lead-and-otl aad take ten gallons. We have been selling them ten gallons Devoe lead -and zinc, and have had. in every in stance, two gallons returned." The proportion is often higher than that; we have known it five in ten; but that is exceptional. This is the explanation : Devoe is ground by machinery, and is ground fine ; lead-and-oil is mixed by hand, and isn't ground at all. Youra truly, * 7g F. W. DKVOK & Co. There was much interest manifest ed throughout these services and while there were only a few con vetted, good seeds were sown, and it is honed they will soon hring forth an abundant hatyest. There were five additious to church membership. Rev. T J. Taylor, of Warren ton who assisted the pastor in these services made many here and impressed the congrega tions with his piety and powerful sermons EVERETT ITEMS. We welcome the beauties of spring. The rain of this week was much needed. The outlook for fish this season must be good, as plenty of the silvery friends are dayly upon our market. Farmers report irish potatoes coming up. Buggs are up too. Mr. J. A. Everett will remove to his dwelling soon which is near completion. The Sabbath day school of our town is now orosperous through the management of its efficient su perintendent L. Dew. We call attention to the town election to be be held the first Tues day in May for the purpose of elect ing a corps of town officers. Mr. S. A. Friiltlil Sifftrlii Rillittf Suffering frightfully from the virulent poisons of undigested food, C. G. Grayson, of Lula, Miss., took Dr. King's New Life Pills "with the result," he writes, "that I was cured." All stomach and bowel disorders g«ve way to their tonic, laxative properties. 25c at S. R. Biggs' drug store, guaran teed. Died In the Woods. Mr. Collin Gray, one of the most highly esteemed citizens of Scot land Neck, died alone in the woods Wednesday evening of last week. He was spending some davs at his farm a few miles in the country and alxmt 5 o'clock in the after noon went out to the Woods as usual to look after his turkeys. It was not noticed that he had not returned until about 7 o'clock. Search was made for him and ;il>out 9 o'ejock he was found not fir iu the woods dead. He seemed to have rested on a log and fell dead. There was a slight scratch on his face, doubtless caused by the fall. Several years ago Mr. Gray lost his wife, and has been under a cloud of sorrow ever since. He had not been up town more than once or twice since, and what time he spent out of his home he .-pent on his farm. He was'somcthing more than sixty years old. A Diridifll Rill often ends in a sad accident. To heal accidental injuries, use Buck len's Arnica Salve. "A deep wound in my foot, from an acci- dent.," writes Theodore Schuelc, Columbus, 0., "caused me great pain, Phy*iciaiis were helpless, but Bucklen's Ainica Salve quick ly healed it." Soothes and heals burns like magic. 25c at S. K. Biggs, druggist. RKPOKT OP THK CONDITION OF J. C. Robertson, Banker at ROBF.RSONVILLK. N.
