THE ENTERPRISE. -JB AP Kriuat. MAT 19, 190\ LOCAL NEWS —Rev. B. S. Lassiter, of Hert ford, filled his regular appointment at the Church of the Advent last Saturday and Sunday. —The new board of town com missioners have inducted them selves into power by announcing that barrooms must be closed at nine o'clock at night. —We desire our correspondents at the various points to resume their regular reports. Several are writing regularly, and we would appreciate it if the others would let us hear from them. —The city fathers have made a wise outlay of the town money in putting the new force pumps on Main street. Water can now be gotten for putting out fire and lay ing dust in summer. This was done by the old board.' Look After the Health ot the Town. With summer comes fevers and fevers come from unsanitary and uncleanly conditions of streets, pools, back lots, etc. Refuse mat ' ter decays and disease germs escape in the atmosphere or are transport ed by insects. A fly will go from the dirtiest cesspool or filth of any kind directly to the most sensitive *nd tender organ or raw flesh. Any disease germ is but the seed of that disease and all necessary for its growth is being properly plant ed. For health then it is necessary to prevent the accumulation of filthy material in which disease germs grow and then it is neces sary to destroy flies or prevent them from scattering It is very easy to prevent the growth of flies by dissolving copperas in water and sprinkliug it in damp and dark places. It is easy to prevent ac cumulations by keeping things dean. The substances sometimes dry to dust and then they are breathed for pure air or they dis solve in water and taken in the system from the water freely drank in summer. It behooves evei y one to look after his own health and the health of those dependent on them and then for the health of the Summer wdl be on us within a few days and it would be well to look after this matter now. extension ot Main Street. The extension of Main St. from its north west terminus near the railroad, across the fields of Mess. Wheeler Martin and J. W. Ander son ani Bro. to the Wild Cat road seems to be fixed. The road will be an air line-extension of Main street to Wild Cat road aud will put Wil liamston one mile nearer Ever eretts, Greenville, Robersonville and all the county west of Wil liamston. The road will be much better than the old road by Skew arkee church and will be a great saving in time and energy to those travelling the old road. The beau ty of the extended Main St will be one of its most gratifying features. It will add no little to its attraction to be able to staud in the middle of Main St. and see over a mile into the country. Death ot Mr. Reading Knox. We regret to announce the death of Mr. Redding Knox, who died last week of paralysis. Mr. Knox leaves a widow and six children, the youngest one being three years old. Mr. Knox was a good citizen and highly regarded by his friends. He was straightforward in busi ness and leaves his family in fairly comfortable circumstances. Letter to Ell Uurganus Williamston, If. Paint Devoe; can't do it for less; there nothing so cheap; say nothing of wear, there's nothing so cheap as Devoe. It goes so far; saves gallons; no matter about the price, save gallons A gallon ot paint, put-on, costs $4 or $5; save gallons. Devoe is your paint save gallons; Devoe is your paint.
