Jnst before begining 011 the pro gramn, "When Jesus Comes to Reward His Servants" was sun? by all. The program was very interesting and very well discussed This would have been the final meeting for the sesson, but by 11 request from the chairman de siring us to have one more in April and let that b« held in Jamesville, as he is thinking of retiring from the field. After taking everything under consideration , and knowing too that he had spent most of fcb days in training up boys and girl.l -be useful men and women, we thought that nothing we ccul do would be too great an honor for him so all members present voted willingly and freely to meet again in April at Jamesville. They will have no expense save traveling. The program commitee drew up the following progratnns one for Fri day eveiiiug April 12th at 8 P. M. and for Saturday, April 13, nt 11 A. M. Address from each teacher. Teacher's Association ' The last meeting ol the Martin County Teachers' Association for this scholastic year was held in the Williamston Graded School Build ing, March i6.i Throughout the year the meetings have been good; the programs have been cleverly planned and for the most part well handled; but the meeting Saturday stands unsurpassed in niTording to those who attended an intellec tual feast. The teachers were gathered in groups and discussing pleasantly when the Chairman called the meeting to order. Prof. Ray in voked Heaven's blessing upon the Association and its members. Mr. S. J. Everett, a prominent young lawyer of Williamston, and one who has experienced the "ups and downs" of a pedagogue, ad dressed the Association on the sub- 4 ject, "The Teacher as a Citizen." His address was direct, forceful and not lacking in logic. He ap - pealed to the teachers to elevate the homes of our land and to use their influence in affecting a better | and more Intelligent citizenship, 'f, Mr. Bverett held the close attention I Department of each teacher and it was a unaui mous vote of thanks ac corded him at the close of his dis course for his interest In the wel fare of the teachers and for the en lightenment that he had afforded them 00 this subject. Later, Mr. Everett proposed the erection of a monument to the Confederate sol diers of Martin County. This sub ject was discussed enthusiastically by several teachers and each one promised her support in this move ment. Miss Meta Liles taught a class in histoty for the benefit of the teach ers. "How to Deal with Unruly Pu pils" was treated in a masterful way by Mrs. Chloe Lanier and Mrs J. D. Everett. Both papm were ordered to be printed in the linterppise, so that all might have the benefit of them. Miss Ballard gave some valuable suggestions on "How to Beautify the School Grounds." Mr. J. D. Everett who has add ed so much so to the meetings all the year, made the final address, in "The Qualification of a Teach sr". His discourse fell in two di visions those qualifications that ate natural and those that are acquired Health, patience, schol arship, energy, good judgment, will-power, tact, self control, self confidence, character, and above til, Christian love, were spoken of is attributes of a successful teacher It is a pity that every teacher did not hear this eloquent, soul stirring uldress. The time and place for the County Institute next summer came up for discussion. The mat ter was left with Supt. I'eele for settlement. Before the meeting adjourned an invitation -was extended to the teachers to attend a reception to lie jlven by the Lotus Club in honor )f Judge Biggs on Tuesday eve ning, March 19. The members of the Association expressed their thanks and appreciation of this Prof. Ray offered prayer and the Martin County Teacheis Associa tion disbanded until next fall. The teachers departed liugeringly, each >ne to follow her own way. . _ Rheumatic Pains Aelietid B. F.
