The En gine has the pan-cooling attach ment, and is quite a novel machine. —Mr. J L. Woolard has return ed from a business trip to the State of Georgia. "He is shipping cultivators every dav, and his ter ritory is rapidly spreading. The farmers know a good thing when they see it. and orders are coming in rapidly. —Mr. R. O. Everett, a son of Martin County, who lias gained honor aud distinction in his adopted home, the city of Durham, will ad dress the people of Williamston to night at the Court House, otv, the question of Prohibition. Let every man, woman and child go out to liear him. —Mr. Wheeler Martin attended the First Congressional District Republican Convention in Eliza beth City Tuesday. He was elect ed one of the delegates to the Natioual Convention, Col. Harrv Skinner being the other delegate. The delegates at large to the Na tional Repreblican Convention are: Charles J. Harris, of Dillsboro; Thomas S. Rollins, of Asheville; E. C. Duncan, of Raleigh, and Speucer B. of Greensboro. The singing Class of the Oxford Orphand Asylum gave a concert in the Masonic Hall last Saturday night. A large crowd was present and enjoyed the concert immensely. The receipts amounted to nearly SSO. Instead of the class stopping at one of the hotels, as has been the custom heretofore, it was di vided and placed with different members and friends of the order. After spending Sunday here the class left Monday morning for Plymouth. Launch Party Wednesday afternoon Mr. L. E. Corey gave a launch party in hon or of Misses Quinerly and Ward, guests of Miss Lela Brown. The party was composed of Misses Brown, Ward, Quinerly, Hamilton and Dowell and Messrs. W. C. Manning, S. T. Li'es, J. R. Harrell, Chas. Baker, Joe. Stroud and L E. Corey. The launch "Doris" was used and the party spent several hours taking in the sights of the Roanoke river above Williamston. Kitchin The closing exercises of the Williamston Graded School tncre begun last Sunday morning at u o'clock in the Court House when the Rev. J. C. Caldwell, President of the Atlantic Christian College, at Wilsou, preached the commence ment sermon. KITCHEN AWARDING PRIZES AND DIPLOMAS Tbe Court House was prettily decorated with cedar, potted plants land ferns, and arranged especially i for the exercises. The "Tom Thumb Wedding," j was the attractive feature of Monday I night's program. The little folks in their "grown foiled* attire made a comical as well *s pleasing spec tacle. The entire audience was al most convulsed *vitli laughter dur ing the entrance of the wedding guests, but this was soou changed to exclamations of delight as the wedding party made its appearance and formed before the minister, while tbe wedding march was be ing rendered by Daisy Manning. First came the ushers: GeOrge Howard Kent, Hance Watts, Rey nolds Smith and Jim Upton; fol ■ - r propriate subject, and the way Dr. Caldwell handled it many Rood and wholesome lessons were drawn and presented to the audience wiih telling force. The whole sermon was full of inspiring thoughts, and. clothed in magnificent language. The audience was indeed well pleased, and many have spoken in high praise of the man and the Sermon. Monday right was the real be ginning of the exercises »o far as the pupils were concerned, this was the beginning of the recitations and musical program. The entire program 8s arranged and carried out for the three nights was as fol lows: lowed by the bridesmaids: Bessie i Page Louallie Walker Ethel Brown Sallie Harris;the flower girls: Sarah Gardner, Martha Simmons Mizell, Adelaide Fischel and Mary Robeit soii came next, followed by the maid of honor, Mary Joyues Wliif.- more. The bride, Corinne Smith entered leaning on the arm of Clyde | Anderson, the father, the bride was met in front of the minister, Rich ard Smith, by the groom, Robert Peelj who with his best man, George ..Gardner, came froflK the right aisle.
