Just preceeding the ceremony, Mrs.

Ordination Services.
The annual visitation of Bishop
Strange to the parish here was of j
unusual interest this year on ac
count of the ordination of Rev. W.
J. Gordou to the priesthood. On
Thursday night the Bth inst., even
ing prayer was said and Rev. B. R.
Huske of Greenville, preached a
very strong sermon. He is a
young man having been ordained
in June, but is doing a good work
in all his parishes in Pitt Couuty.
Friday morning services began at
10:30 with morning prayer. At
11:45 the service for the ordaning
of priests began by the singing of
Onward Christian Soldiers. "
Then followed the sermon by Rev.
Mr.Hubardof Clemson, S. C. His
theme was selected from the texts
"I am the Light of the world,"
' 'Yt are the light of the world" and
"As my Father hath sent me, even
so send I you."
Mr. Gordon was presented for
ordination by Rev. Nat Harding
of Washington. The Holy Com
munion was administered to a large
number by Bishop Strange assisted
by Rev. Mr. Gordon. These ser
vices were the most impressive ever
.seen in Williamston, and every one
present must have caught the
spirit embodied therein and felt
that it was good to be there. One
found in then a truer significance
of the church and its purposes.

J .R. Roberson the Republican
Noninee for Sheriff.
(Reported)
A handful of pie-eaters met in
the office of Boss Wheeler Martin
Thursday and completed the nom
ination for the republican ticket by
naming J. R. Roberson as their
nominee for sheriff. At the regu
lar convention the nomination for
sheriff was left open to give boss
Martin time to negotiate with Rob
erson and complete the converting
of him to the republican ranks, and
after the "pisin" had been suffici
ently imbibed the few pie-eaters
were called together and the plan
perfected.
Fellow democrats, are you going
to be beffled in that way? Are
you going to support a man whose
only interest in your party is to
seek office? J. R. Roberson an
nounced himself as a canidate for
1 the office of sheriff of Martin Co.,
subject to the action of the demo
cratic convention, in which he re
ceived no mean support, getting
26 out of 58 votes. And now he
is the full-pledged nominee of the
republican party.
Again, this man who conies out
i and asked for the nomination to
I this high office at the hands of the
democrats of Martin County was
j heard to say prior to the time of
I bis announcement, that if the State
I went dry he would vote the repub
lican ticket, reserving the right to
vote for any county candidate he
saw fit. Now after his defeat in
j the Democratic County Conven
tion, he throws off the veil and re 5*
