Biggs lias pur chased a blooded colt sired by John R. Gentry. The colt is only two years old,, and the Doctor, who is a vei y enthusiastic lover of horses, expects much from his purchase. Mr J. K. Pope, accompanied by bis mother, left for Chailotte ou Monday. He will represent Roa noke Camp W. O. W , at the an nual Council of the Order. Mrs. Pope will stop at Lexington with ber daughter, Mrs. B. C.Crawford. —Rev. Mr. Gordon went to Tar boro on Tuesday to hold I.enten Services for Rev. Mr. Brown who has been in Williamston this week. Mr. Brown went down to Plymouth 011 Wednesday night and held ser vices at Grace church there. —The storm of week in and around Williamston did no damage The fury of it had been expended before reaching Martin -County. The storm differed only from the many blows that couie every year only in the darknes which attended it. That was phenomenal. —Mr. Swain, of Plymouth a representative of the International Harvester Co. was 111 town Tuesday driving a handsome automobile made by the Company. The construction of the machine adapts it to the country roads. It makes verry little noise, and lias great power. —The Gardner, LaClede and Gardner Co. played litre Friday and Saturday nights to good houses The orchestra was very good, and some of the features were enjoyable* the dogs attracted attention, while the lunny man was too funny for anything.
