May I, tqt4 i _ • ——i We Are With The President ■ While nation* are trying to bring peacejibout in the turbul ent country of Mexico, there should be a patient waiting on the part of every American citi zen. The end ia yet uncertain, dealing as we have to with a man like Huerta. who is best known as a debauchee and murderer. American blood has been shed blood worth far more than all the Mex icarws in a pile, and if the elimination of Huerta can he ac complished without the firing of another gun. great will be our victory. But alon# with his overthrow should come that of Villa and Carranza. They are alike as peas in a pod. and our government should {if it would settle matters, > demand the eli mination of the three. Confidence in the wisdom of President Wilson is filling the heart of every patriotic citizen in this great Republic. He has the true facts before him and we have the reports of over-enthusi astic newspapers. It is a greater victory to honorably avert war than to give our men to be slain by the thousands, though in the end success would come to Ameri can arms. Our love of country can best be shown now by firmly standing at the back of President Wilson in his efforts to help the Mexican people in securing a good government, and in getting proner reprisal for indignities of fers American citizens and our Hag. A Miscellaneous Shower Mesdames S. F. Williams and Asa T. Crawford were hostesses on Monday afternoon at their home In East Williamston in hon or of Miss Mary Hassell. Many Ifuests were present and the pleasure was keen. A "Floral" contest was enjoyed and prizes given, Mesdames K. B. Craw ford and J. T. Jerome winning these.
