Congressman Small is the senior member of the North Caro lina delegation, and this is tho ninth time that he has been hon ored with the nomination. No man from the South has done a more faithful work for his con stitaency than has John Small, and the First District honors it self in renominating him from year to year without opposition. Martin County Democrats are always strong in their attach ment to him. feeling that their interests are safe in his hands. It is safely predicted that he will vepresent the First as long as he desires. Hassell Items J. E. Barden, of Norfolk, is here on a visit to his mother, Mrs Spruill. Miss LishieCoburn in over from Robersonville spending a few days Mrs. T H. Johnson spent Tues day with relatives in Scotjand Neck. Miss Lucy Cherry from Speed is visiting Miss Louise Salsbury. Roberson returned from Washington Monday, where ahe went to attend the funeral of her grandchild, Hilda Knight Blickman. Friends here sympa thize with *Mrs. Buckman in her deep bereavement.
