Frulflv, Oit. 1. 1915 Eranfceiislic Services / TkV I ■ \ I 1 \ \ "* The opening of the Memorial Baptist ('lnirch marked the be ginning of evangelistic services by Dr. WaekwHl, of isoriolk, who is well known in North Car olina He lias made a profound impression m the people here by the plain, practical application of the Scriptures to human needs. Though - seventy-two years old, his power has not lessened, but rathec, increased, and every man must be struck with his earnest ness in his effort to upbuild God's Kingdom. By simple illustration he makes plain the truths of the Bible. These services are held nightly, beginning at 7:15 with a song service. Everybody is cor dially invited to attend and join in the effort for good to the com munity. A Test in Prices. There .are a great many people, fanners especially, who think that foreign markets are better than thosf : i* home. The bigger markets have a corps of gas bugs parading all over the county turning o'.}' sterotyped "spools" t> : >. >1 tin' tobacco farmers. Sad to relate, man;, are caught in the i.et, anil nine out of tenJiave a sea- ii »>! i"i gritting to follow. These spr ii.".'v!crs will go into a neighborhood and pick out the man with t nr rrryr best- crop pcrA.iad-j hmiiu goon their mar ket. Ul • .i'.-c. j/ood weed sells high evcKvu hfie, but some other if. farmer is tooled into thinking that he should carry his crop too. So often, he gets from $2.00 to $3 less than the e'ould right here in Wilhamston. A ease. in point was seen here Tuesday. A tobacco buyer from Rocky Mount induced Mr. Fred Roebuck to send several grades to his house. Before leaving the market, Mr. Ruebuek procured a sample from each pile with the card on which was the price. Tuesday he brought five wagons fulljhere and unloaded on the Dix ie floor. The grades were simi lar U) that sold at Rocky Mount, but the prices received ranged $2 to $5 higher. This is only one among the many instances rcord ed here on both the Roanoke and Dixie floors, where the weed gets the topmost figures. One case is that of a man go ing among the farmers of the county exhibiting a sample pf tobacco, and claiming that same sold for only 16c on the William son market Upon investiga tion it was learned that he had »ever been on the market with a load.
