BEEKEEPERS TO CONVENE AT WASHINGTON Annual State Canuatisa T» Be Held On Thursday. Jmmo 17 -M«7 Expected Washington, N. C, Jan. 10.—Letters have been sent oat by C- L. Sunt, specialist in beekeeping, notifyirg all members of the Association of Bee keepers of the coming State Conven tion to be held in this city next week. January 17th. Mr. Sams says: ""Hiis meeting is for the benefit of North ' Carolina beekeepers and tke program is made up of oar own members. An encouraging number of suceassfal bee keepers from many sections of the State have cheerfully agreed to dis cuss various subjects on modern bee keeping. All beekeepers whether members or not, are invited to attend- All persons interested in the welfare of beekeeping, including county agents are urged to be present. This not ing is held at Washington for the special benefit of beekeepers in Eas tern North Carolina and they should not fail to take advantage of it. The meeting will be interesting and instructive. Please extend the invitation to others and meet us a' Washington, N. C., January 17, 1924. The citizens of Washington wil welcome the visiting beekeepers an all others who may come to attend the convention. Beekeeping is proving a profitable source of income for those who are engaged in it as this section offers exceptional advantages for the rais ing and keeping of bees. Professor Eckeret of the State Colleite is ex pected to be in charge of arrange ments for the one day session. The above article should be of great interest to the beekeepers of Martin county and this section. Several years ago the I'nited States Government made a survey of the en tire country to find the spots where bees would thrive without artificial feeding and it was found that along the banks of the Roanoke river about SO miles above ami below Williamston grew plants and trees that furnished the proper food for bees. This should make the bee industry very profitable to the people of our county and the meeting at Washington would be beneficial to those interest ed. — Why not buy a Ford, a mule, plen ty of Texaco or Standard gas and oil and live in Williamston? You'd be happy ever afterwards. Friends here and elsewhere will re gret to hear of the serious illness of Mrs. Sue Ewell. >■ SALE OF VALUABLE LANDS.
