Frances, Miss Eugenia Hoyt and Hargy Biggs left this morning for Virginia beach to spend several days as Dr. Edgar Morrison's guests. They made tfie trip through the country. Mrs. Lawrence I'eel left yesterday for Suffolk where she will visit her father who has been ill for some time. BIRTHDAY PARTY i Lust Sunday afternoon from three to . six o'clock, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Peele was the scene of much pleasure, when a large num ber of ydung folks gathered there to celebrate the seventh birthday of their attractive daughters, Misses ljthlyn and Evelyn a(id the fourth birthday of their little son Howell Rhodes. After having enjoyed out door games the guests were invited in to the dining room where delicious ice creain and cake were served by Misses Lillian and Vivian Peele, Lola Wil-r liams and Velma Griffin. The table was unusually attractive with bowls of nasturtiums and fruit. On each end was a birthday cake with seven candies and in the center there was one with four candles. Before the guests were invited into the room the candles were lighted and the room made dark, affording a very pretty scene. Many beautiful presents were re ceived. Everyone left, declaring he had a most wonderful time and wishing their host and hostesses many more birthdays. , BRIDGE PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler Martin en tertained at one of the most brilliant parties of the summer season Mon day evening complimenting Mrs. Mar tin's cousin, Miss Mary Dixon liid dick of Asheville. Other guests of honor were Mr. and Mrs. Holly Bell and Dr. and Mrs. C. J. Sawyer of Windsor. Nine tables were arranged for bridge on the lovely porch of the home which was attractively decorat ed for the occasion with vari-colored ing the evening.
