VIRGINIA-CAROLINA DAY A BIG DAY AT IHE FAIR Wednesday, September the 9th, is tire big day for the farmers of the Tidewater section of Virginia and east, orn North Ca*roljpa at the Greater ln tteiscute Norfolk Virginia Fair. Spec ial preparations are benig made to make "farmers' day" the biggest event of the week. Short talks by farm experts, special display of rare agri cullute products, and new and extra entertainment features aw'to be pro vided. Tne slogau lor the day will be "Our Farmers" and every one has been put on the committee to see that no stone is left unturned to make every lurmer and liis family with his friends have "the one big day." Special horse races will be held in additional to the tegular races; there will be a water melon-eating contest by the "picka ninies."' An old time fiddlers' contest and many other special features. At night there will be two big bands play ing all the time, in addition to the band that will give special concerts ,foi the farmers gathering in the day time. Fifteen big circus stage acts and the big bathing tfCauty parade with a mammoth display of tireworks at night will be seen. While this will be a big day it must be fully under stood that every day during the fair special features that will interest the farmer will be given, in fact the whole week will be a sort of farmers conven tion for over two hundred farmers have been listed as exhibitors in the agriculture hall. The fair this year will outdo all previous ones; in fact, the bigness of it really makes it a mammoth exposition of the fanning and industrial pursuits.
