Brake-Preddy The following account of the mar riage of Miss Preddy jind Mr. Brake will be of interest to friends of the bride's father in Williamston and Martin County, where he has a large lumber mill; Rocky Mount, Dec. 16.—A wedding centering the interest of many friends was that, of Miss Katherine Leah Preddy and R. Clarence Brake, jr., which took place at the First Presby terian church manse, the Rev. Willard Couger officiating. The lovely bride wore a black satin dress with gold trimmings and Bmall gold hat to match. Her corsage was sweetheart roses. Mr. and Mrs. Brake left immediate ly after the ceremony for a bridal trip to New York and on their return they will occupy an apartment at the Arlington Terrace. The bride is the dcughtei of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Preddy, the former a prominent lumberman. She graduated at the high school and attended Ran dolph-Macon Woman's College for three years. She is one of the city's most charming young women and has many friends in this and other States who will be very much interested to hear of her wedding. Mr. Brake is a member of the Bul luck-Brake Insurance Company. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Clarence Brake, the former a prominent whole sale merchant of the city. He is a young man of excellent business abil ity and commands a wide circle of friends. Miss Thelma Brown Has Birthday Party At the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Brown, Miss Thelma Brown entertained a large number of her young friends of this city, Tar boro, Jamesville, Windsor, and Wash ington. Bridge was played and dancing was engaged in until a late hour, when a buffet luncheon was served by the hostess, assisted by her mother and Mrs. Oscar Anderson.
