Crawford will return to morrow from Seaford, Del. where she has been with her sister, Mrs. Ross during the last illness of her hus band. Mr. Ross died Monday after noon and the funeral and interment services were held Wednesday. Mrs. Claude Greeit of Robersonville attended the reception here Tuesday afternoon. Misses Velma Harrison, Frances Hoyt, Margaret Manning and Mary Hardy Murrill visited friends in Wash ington Wednesday. Mesdames Van G. Taylor, Hunter and Jesse Keel of Everetts attended the club reception here Tuesday after noon." Mr. M. L. Tremain, State Deputy of the Modern Woodmen of America, of Winston-Salem passed through town yesterday from Colerain, where he had addressed the annual Bertie M. W. A. picnic. Mr. Tremain is a Westerner, but he has lived in Carolina for several years and is warm in his praise of the old North State. ReV. and Mrs. L. C. Larkin of Murfreesboro visited Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Warren this week. Dr. H. B. York will leave tomorrow for Saluda where he will take a course in the care of babies. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Staton spent Sunday at Morehead City. While there they were the guests of Mr. C. C. Coddington. Among the other guests for the day were Max Gardner and Mrs. Gardner. They spent the time on the Coddington yacht. Rev. J. T. Stanford, who was a - former pastor of the local Methodist church, was the guest of Mrs. J. B. Knight and family this week. Mr. Stanford is always a welcome visitor to Williamston, his hearty laugh and genial disposition having endeared' him very closely to our people. Messrs. J. E. Pope and R. S. Critcher attended the Weldon district conference of the M. E. church Wed nesday which was held in Windsor. Mr. Garland Hodges of Washington was a visitor yesterday. RECEPTION FOR MISS TRENTHAM LARGELY ATENDED The reception given by the Woman's Club fo£ Miss Anna Trentham, our now Home Demonstration agent, was well attended and a very enjoyable occasion. The hall was beautifuly decorated by the house committee and a few of their friends. Tall baskets and vases of the loveliest summer flowers were used every where to make the room more attractive with the soft glow of silk shaded lamps to help the rooms were prettier than they had ever been.
