Warren was soliciting subscriptions to
a Raleigh newspaper. She is field rep
resentative for this paper in sixteen
counties in this section of the State.
Mrs. C. H. Godwin Hostess to
Twentieth Century Club
The Twentieth Century Club had
it« regular meeting last Wednesday
afternoon from 3.3y to 5 at the home
of Mrs. C. H. Godwin. There was a

The program for the afternoon was
on the subject, "Farm Tenancy in
North Carolina," and Mrs. Wheeler
Martin read • paper prepared by
Mrs. John W. Manning, "The Facts
of Farm Tenancy in North Carolina."
It dealt with the origin of tenancy,
its relation to the UAited States,
North Carolina, and the South; its
growth and the proportion of white
und colored tenancy.
Mrs. W. B. Watts had a reading on
"The Effects of Farm Tenancy," and
Mrs. Clayton Moore gave current
events.
Mrs. John Manning and Miss Car
rie Dell White played a very pretty
duet, which concluded the program.
The hostess served tipsy cake and
whipped cream .
