Mr. Simpson, who unloaded, the to bacco from the truck in Karmville, testified that Haze mo re was, the man who carried the truck of tobacco there, liazemore told him that the tobacco was his, but it was -tated by Mr. Simpson that the negro did not wait for the check and that he left without the truck. Sheriff Koberson and Chief of J'o iice Daniel testified to statements l.azemj/e~l)ad made to there, all in dicating the negro's guilt. While the man wa convicted on cir- cumstantial evidence, the case pre sented the most complete proof of any ever tried in the State. Ltazemore's father had I'aul Friz selle, of Snow Mill to defend his on, 'i)ut no witnesses were placed on the stand in his son's behalf. The State was represented by Solicitor Davis, of New Hern. The murder took place on the morn ing of November 5, when Hazelnore and the boy were on their way to Wilson with a load of tobacco.
