Society & Personals Hn ELBERT S. PEEL, Editor Gab Meetings Engagements Waddings Etc. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Mizelle and son visited relatives here Sunday. Mrs. Myrtle I. Brown and Miss Esther Harrison went to Washington, D. C. Sunday where Tney will visit for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Woolard, of Washington City left for their home Sunday morning after spending a few days visiting Mr. Woolard's sisters, Mrs. T. F. Harrison and Mrs. Myrtle Brown. Judge Clayton Moore is holding his first term of criminal court in Ber tie county this week. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Peel and son, Elbert, jr. and Miss Sallie Harris visited relatives in Richmond during the week end. Hubert Rawls of Kings Business college, Raleigh, spent Sunday here with friends and relatives. Messrs. J. W. Manning and T. B. Brandon returned Saturday from a trip to Richmond. C. A. Askew of Jamesville was in town yesterday gelling bagging and ties and peanut bags for use this fall. Mr. Tom Davis, district manager of the Carolina Telephone and Telegraph company, was here yesterday attend ing to business matters for that company. Mr. W. W. Griffin, of Williams township was in town yesterday. Miss Mary Clyde Leggett spent the week end with relatives in Tar bo ro. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Bloom, of New York, returned to their home today after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Margolis during the past several days. Mr. Ed James, of Rober.sonville, was here yesterday collecting license and privilege tax due the State. Messrs. Harper Holliday and Bill Manning spent the week end at Dunn and Four Oaks. Members and guests of the sorority assembled on the mexanine floor and proceeded to the dining room, led by the chaperones of the evening, Miss Smith and Miss Reid. The president of the sorority, Miss Edna Wood, greeted the guests as they entered the dining room. Miss Mary Jones, toastmistress of the evening, welcomed thirty-two guests to the banquet tables. The toasters were Misses Ruth Manning, Eunice Aycock, Melba Gay, Rachel Rogerson, Janet Daugherty, Margaret Barnes, Mrs. Homer Wiggins; Messrs Cecil I*wrence, William Wiegan, James Lawsonj Miss Smith and Miss Reid.
