The card club of Mrs. J. S. Rhodes

a bridge luncheon at her home, Rho

tily decorated for the occasion with
bowls of larkspur, sweet peas, and
ragged robins.
Mrs. F. W. Hoyt, who made high
score, was presented a pair of liose.
Mrs. J. W. Watts, jr., was the only
special guest.
Mi's. Rhodes served a delightful
luncheon, consisting of fried chicken, |
peas, potatces, hot rolls, and gravy,
raspberries and cream and cake.

Washington, June 7. —Mr. and Mrs.
W. H. Russ, accompanied by Misses
Melba, Avalon, and Master Howard,
jr., have just returned from a very
pleasant trip to Baltimore, where
they witnessed the graduation of
their daughter, Zelma, at Peabody
Conservatory of Music.
Miss Zelma has accepted a position
with the Radcliffe Chautauqua, popu
lar throughout the United States,
whose headquarters are a,t Washing
ton, D. C., where she will enter the 1
service prior to their annual tour.
This came as a surprise to Miss
Russ. The chautauqua authorities
were seeking a soprano, and she was
especially recommended by the fat- j
ulty of the conservatory, and she ac- j
cepted the position. The chaUtauqua
vill tour the northern section of the|
United States, principally around the
Grsat Lakes.
Miss Russ is very competent and
carries with her every good wish for
a happy and pleasant engagement.

Enfield, visited friends and relatives
in Wiiliamston Sunday. Mr. Thomas'
mother, Mrs. T. W. Thomas, returned
home with him to spend several
weeks.
