Stanley on Friday evening. The guests were received at the door by Mrs. Roy Johnson and from there Mrs. J. H. Stanley direct eft them to the punch bowl, where they were served by Misses Willie Massengill, Elizabeth Lewis, Marvel Sanders, and Mcta Shaffer. They were then shown into the spacious living and drawing rooms, which were thrown en suite. Everyone was asked to take part in the clock contest, Mrs. Roy John son, being winner, partners were pick ed, and asked to solve the puzzle, which when solved, announced the approaching marriage of Miss Sallie Adams, of Four Oaks und Mr. W. C. Manning, jr., of Williamston, on August 17, 1927.
