Last Thursday evening, from 8:30
until 12 o'clock, Dr. and Mrs. J. H.
Saunders entertained with two tables
of bridge, complimentary to Miss
Carrie Dell White and. Mr. Calno
Louden, whose marriage took place

LOUDEN-WHITE
Of interest to a number of friends
in this city and county and to a num
ber of tobacconists of this and other
States was the marriage of Miss Car
rie Dell White and Mr. Calno Lou
den, of Madison, Ind., which took
place Saturday evening at 5 o'clock
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John
W» Manning , on Church Street,
where the bride has made her home
for several years. Rev. C. H. Dickey
pastor of the Memorial Baptist
ChurcW* took the vows. The cere
mony, characterized by its simplicity,
was witnessed by only a few intimate
friends of the bride.
Mrs. J. H. Saunders rendered the
wedding music, and Mrs. J. S.
Rhodes sang very sweetly "Because."
They both were gowned m black
satin dresses and black hats and
wore shoulder bouquets of sweet
peas and roses.
Following the minister were the
bride and groom, the groom meeting
the bride at the foot of the winding

by Irene Castle, with hat and slices
to match. She carried a cortege of
sunset roses and valley lilies. Im
mediately after the ceremony they
left by motor for Carrolton, Ky.,
where Mr. Louden will be on the to
bacco market until March.
Mrs. Louden, who is the daugh
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
White, is one of the finest young wo
men of Williamston and is known
for her personal charm and ability.
She has been active in the religious
and social life of the town and, al
ways assisting in any work for her
church, town, and community, she
will be' greatly missed while she and
her husband are in other States. -For
several years she has been organist
of the Baptist Church, and she will
be greatly missed there. The num
erous social events given lor her since
her engagement has been announced
attest her wide popularity.
Mr. Louden, who is a native of
Indiana, has spent much time in
North Carolina as a tobacco buyer
for R. ). Reynolds and iw is highly
regarded by all who know him for
his m; ny admirable Me is
■a world 'war veteran, having seen
much service at the front.
