I Friday, December 23,1927 ROBERSON VILLE SCHOOL NOTES On Thursday evening, December IS, at the Parents-Teachers meeting, the quadruple wedding, marking the end of the Husband-Hunters Contest, was solemnized. To the strains of the wedding march played by Miss Essie Robinson, Mr. T. K. Jenkins, soloist, upon the arm of Mr. (7) Ida Whitehurst came down the aisle. Following the song— "Though you belong to somebody else"—sung with great gusto by Mr. Jenkins, Parson Roberson marched down the aisle and took his position on the stage. Alter him came the littel fairy-like Murriel Wynne, ring bearer. Then, Miss Eva Peele and Mr. Herbert Highsmith, Miss Maude Maness and Mr. Pitt Robe r son, Miss Lenoa Moore and Mr. (?) Millie Roe buck, and Miss Alma Murray and Mr. Wiley Burras Rogerson were unit edjvith the ring ceremony. The connubial felicity enjoyed by than was of short duration, because whithin the hour they were in court, the husband or the wife entering suit for divorce upon some fictitious grounds. With Mr. Haywood Everett (supposedly of Nevada) as judge; Mr. R. L Leake, lawyer for the defen dants; Mr. G. H. Cox, lawyer for the plaintiff*; and Brownie Roberson, Christine Taylor, John Robt. Jenkins, and Vernon Ward, as witnesses, the divorce proceedings were interesting ly and~«teverly carried out. Miss Alma Murray, the bride win ning the greatest number of votes in the contest, was awarded the wedding ] cake. Afterwards in the Home, Eco nomics rooms the wedding supper was served, to which all the couples, their campaign managers, and several friends were invited. It was generally known that the money raised in the Husband-Hunt ers Contest was to be used to make the first payment on the new school piano, a beautiful Ellington. It was quite fitting that at the culmination of the contest—the P. T. A. meeting— the piano should grace the auditorium stage and make its first official ap pearance. At three o'clock on Friday after noon, December 16, all examinations ended and the school assembled in the auditorium to witness the Christmas celebration and to see Santa Claus and hiß big, beautifully decorated tree. ' I 4*4 A round the tree were the gifts ar ranged in grade groups. These were delivered at the conclusion of a short program, Santa giving out those to the children of the first grade and the teachers with pupils, as assist ants, distributing those to the other grardes. Then fruit was furnished to each pupil by the teachers. Both pu pils and teachers ahared in the joys of Santa Claus. The gift though that brought the most surprise to the recipient and the most real joy to the donors was the school gift to Mr. Leake, a combination smoking stand and magazine rack with accessories. The Christmas holiday begun on Friday afternoon, December 16, will last for two weeks. School work will be resumed on Monday, January 2, 1928. It is hoped that each child will have the biggest and merriest Christ Brow's Tasteless OMH Tonic Invigorates, Purifies and Enriches the Blood. Despite the fact that school work closed on Friday, December 16, ten of the school faculty showed their school spirit by attending the County Teachers' meeting. To do this several had to change previously made plans considerably. Don't forget the box party to be given by the Seniors on January 3, 1928. Come and bring others with you.
