Pope, who spent Easter in Creedmoor, returned Monday and brought his family. Mrs. Pope with the children had been there for sev er;.! weeks while the children had i.aasles, which they contracted while on a visit. Mr. Pope's mother, of Dur ham. also returned with them. In Durham Hospital W. A. Ellison, jr., assistant profes sor in Duke University, is recovering in Watts Hospital, Durham, from an operation. Mr. Ellison, who has many friends here, was operated upon last week for appendicitis. • Return to Ayden Misses Una and Louise Hooks, of Ayden, returned to their home there today after spending several days hicrc with Mr. and Mrs. Z. H. Rose at the Atlantic Hotel. Return to Raleigh Mrs. J. D. Lanier and little daugh ter, Miss Pattie Green, and Miss Lcthia Haywood, of Raleigh, who spent Eas ter with Mr. and Mr*. W. L. Taylor, have returned home. Return To Mount Airy Mr and Mrs. J. Dillon Simpson and little sou, Dillon, jr., have returned to their home in Mount Airy. Twentieth Century Club Meeting Wednesday One of the best meetings of the year of the Twentieth Century Club was held with Mrs. J. H. Saunders on Wednesday afternoon. The general tcfpic for the program waa-'Sdttth Sea Islands.' Mrs. C. A. Harrison read a pap* she had pre pared on 'Hawaii and Its People.' Mrs. Flbert Peel read a paper on 'The Mod ern Cannibal,' giving a description of the people of the Fiji Islands, Mrs. W. B Watts, with currents events, concluded the literary program. Mrs. W. B. Watts began the pro gram with a piano solo, Huinoresque. Mrs. J. S. Double Wedding of Sisters in Suffolk Miss Mary Bailey and Mr. Leßoy Ausbon and Miss ,Maud Bailey and Mr. Sammie Whitehurst were married in Suffolk jon Saturday, March 17, 1928. They left here that day and made the trip to the Yrigniia city, v, here the double ceremony was per formed very quietly. Mr. and Mrs. Whitehurst returned and are now at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whitehurst, in Pitt County. The marriage of the other couple was kept a secret and was not an nounced until Saturday, April 7th. The young brides are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Bailey, ot Hear Grass, and are very popular and highly regard- young women in their community. Mr. Whitehurst is the von of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whitehurst, of Pitt Couuty, and Mr. Ausbon is the son ot Mr. Jeff Ausbon, of Beaufort County. Teacher Entertains Graduating Class The seventh-grade graduating class of the Woodard's Pond School were entertained Wednesday night in the home of their teacher, Mrs. Daden H Wolfe- in Wanoca recently. The living rooin and dining room were tastefully decorated in class col ors of blue and gold and also with potted plants. # Several games were played, after which the guests were invited into the dining room, where tliev were serv ed a delicious icc course by the hos- THE ENTERPRISE t«»s, assisted by Miss Fannie Harris, a co-worker teacher. Music and danc ing were also a later feature of the program followed by a course of fruits and beverages. Little Miss Martha B. Wolfe, daughter of the hostess and msscot of the class, in a costume of pink vanity crepe, helped to entertain by her cunning ways and witty re marks. _/ • The class is composed of Misses E'lsie Whitley, Olivia Asby, Ruby Prickell. Ixda Cutler, Elsie Cox, Laura K. Cutler, and Erma Gray Wallace. There were also several invited guests. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan • Rogers Entertain On Monday evening, April 9, from 8:30 until 11:30 o'clock Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Rogers delightfully entertained the Bear Grass High School faculty. The home was artistically and pro fusely decorated with potted plants and flowers. Two tables of progressive rook were played, Mr. Dewey Log j?ett winning high score. Games and other contests and dancing were en joyed duri.ng the evening. Piano music was rendered ,by Miss Lukie Rogers. Some very beautiful SOUR selections were rendered by Misses Lukie Rogers and Clara God- The guests repaired to the dining r am, which with its attractive decora tions in yellow and green was a veri table scene of beauty with shaded win cows and golden rays from the num erous candles. The table was elabor ately decorated in yellow and green, am! an Faster basket adorned its cen- ter. Delicious refreshments were served Twenty-nine guests were present.
