We recommend that our repre sentatives in the legislature of North Carolina be instructed to pass, if pos sible, a law whereby the six months' schools provided for by the State shall be run and maiutaiuvd by the State, and that this burden be taken from the bounties of North Carolina. We fur ther recommend that our representa tives in the next legislature be instruct ed to have passed for Mar-tin Coun ty a law whereby the njemlwrs of the board of education shall be elected by the people of the county in the same manner and at the same time as other coynty officers. 16.
