ICE A NECESSITY IN EVERY HOME Gives Distinction to Every Meal; Perfection Is Assured Ice gives distinction to every meal, according to L. P. Lindsley, of the Lindsley Ice Co., this city. "On a lied of chipped ice, the fa miliar breakfast grapefruit becomes an appetizer fit to precede the most cere monious dinner," states Mr. Lindsley. "Served in ice-encircled glasses, the humble fruit cocktail takes on sophis tication and glamour. "Fin htotels and smart restaurants achieve much of their reputation by the unstinted use of ice in the preparation and adornment of their myriad dishes and beverages. Ice insures that per fection which fastidious people de mand. "At home, only the feminine mind can fully comprehend the infinity of detail that makes up a successful eve ning's'entertainment. In days of yore the popular hostess had ol»ly to pro vide food—and plenty of it—and the husky trenchermen fell to with gusto and grunts of approval. "But we have higher standards of living today, and here are but a few of the problems which confront the modern hostess: Whom to invite and $5.00 in Gold FREE • * To the One Holding the Lucky Number Each Wednesday Night for Six Weeks t . r * f Watts Theatre ~ s . . "Yet reliance on ice will solve some of them, at least, tailors and professionalises amateur efforts; it adds the finishing touch. ..Under its influence seafood cocktails become am brosia and nectar; jellied consomme, chilled for long hours in the ice box, enlivens every one; olives and celery in cracked ice are crisp, firm, and cool, anil contribute to the table decoration ds well as the dinner; tomatoes in as- pic contrast the hot dishes, and the home-made ice cream is deliciously rich."
