Wal lace, a young man of Cumberland county report to police headquar ters late last night that he had pass ed a man lying on a highway about two miles south of the city, whom he believed to be drunk, or dead. After making his report the young man started to re-enter his automo bile when he noticed the arm of a man wedged between the front axle and radiator of his automobile. Of ficers hurried to the point of the road where Wallace had seen the man and found Willie West, cotton mill worker, lying in the road, minus his left arm. He recognised Chief of Police Jones and told him that he was merely drunk and asked not to be locked up. He did not know that his left arm had been snatched off. He was resting well today in s local hospital. It is presumed that West who 1* about 50 years of age, raised his arm to shield his eyes from the glare of the headlighgts of Wallace's car as it passed over him. A bottle contain ing a small amount of bay rum was found in West's pocket. length of service will probably range from one to two years in most cases, hut in no case will it extend beyond December 1, 1932. Full information regarding these ex aminations ran be obtained from the United States Civil Service Commis sion Washington D. G, or from the secretary of the United States Civil Service Board at the post office or cus tomhouse in any city. 666 is s Prescription for COLDS, GRIPPE, FLU.
