day with Mrs. C. B. Siceloff at the
Britt hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Askew, of
Jamesvilie, have been attending serv
ices at tlie Baptist church here this

Greenville attended services here this
week, and were the dinner guests of
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hodges.

trict, has been visiting his son, Rev.
C. H. Dickey and family here for the
past week. He leaves today for his
home in Western North Carolina.

Mrs. J. W. Manning has been in
the Washington Hospital for several
days for examination. She was ac

Hev. E. P. West preached his first
sermon in the new Baptist church
Sunday to a large 'congregation.
People were there from far and near
to take part in the worship.
The parent-teacher association met
Monday night, November 17, with 32
members present. The organization
was favored with a splendid program
given by the first-grade pupils, direct
ed by their teacher, Miss Medlock.
There were one hundred and twenty
eight people present for the pro
gram which was greatly enjoyed.

in Richmond for some time taking a
medical treatment, returned home Sat

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Waldo, Mrs.
Ballard and Herman Everett went to
Bethel last Wednesday night to hear
the Greensboro College glee club.
Mr. Asa Johnson is on the sick list
at this time. We hope he will soon be
out again.

Holds Regular Meeting
The Twentieth Century club meet
ing was held on Wednesday with Mrs.
S. R. Biggs, hostess. She had a num
ber of friends invited for the meet
ing.
The subject of study for the after
noon was "Contributions of North
Carolinians to Literature." Mrs. C. A.
Harrison had the first paper, "Poets:
John Chas. McNeil, John Henry
Bonar and ,B. J. Sledd," which was
very good. Mrs. N. C. Green had a|
reading on "The Drama—Paul Green
and Miss Anne Bridgers," which was,
read by Mrs. Clayton Moore in her!
absence. Current Events were read
by Mrs. J W. Watts, jr.
The hostess assisted by her sister,
Mrs. John J. Phillips, of Norfolk,;
served a delicious sweet course after,
the program was concluded.
