Tuxes and Religion> Taxes and religitwi are two things we usually put off until the last minute, and to do so generally causes us \ r«»ublf and n l\. /\ flSliiMlluii naturally leads to failure. Yet, we boast of our loyalty to our country and proclaim our love for God. We would serve God with the most worthless days of our lives and sustain our country with the money left over. It would be easier for us if we would place first things first. The Auto Continues To Take Its Toll Sunday was another big day for automobile de struction. The- twenty-six million automates filled many of the one million hospital beds in the county with cripples. The undertaking shops received a num ber of victims and the garages were crowded with broken glass and twisted steel. A number of the driv ers are in jail, but it is doubted if the number confin ed is large enough. Fast machines and fast life are responsible for quite a number of these wrecks.. In some cases poor judg ment or thoughtlessness resulted in a wreck. Just st> long as so many people travel so fast, we will have accidents. But the public is responsible for half the troubles because we excuse instead of punish. More Truth Needed In Politics Is it safe to go to the professional politician or to hi? J close friend for guidance in voting? The* Bible tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. Doubtless that was written before of ficers were elected by the |>eople, or it might have been I worded a little differently It is not dishonorable to seek office, and generally office seekers are good men. The trouble is that there is at times an unworthy office- SeetTer Tfytng' Tn destroy 'the worthy opponent. And then there is a low undercurrent which too often tries to tear down and destroy the character of good men. More truth is what we need in politics. It is too often the case'that we find those who have to depend I upon* others- for information and never learn - the-true~ I facts, There are too many fellows going through the land canvassing as paid agents, spreading news that will not stand light. In many such cases, these fel lows hold office or have the promise of office or other ' political favors.
