Urge Farmers To Keep Pasture Weeds Down Observation of pastures in the county shows that many farmers lived to use the mowing machine to keep weeds down. The pasture should he mowed two or three times during the season if necessary to keep down *v ed growth, Certainly the weed* should not he allowed to mature seed to increase the weed crop next season. Si.me of the pastures contain hitter weed. If taken hold of in time this p st can lie easily stamped out hut if allowed to mature seed it Kets worse each year. This pest is a weed that us ually Kriiwj 12 to IS inches high and has yellow blossoms in the top and if eaten by cows causes the milk to he hitter. Close grazing with cattle helps in keeping down weed growth. Obser vation of a number of pastures in Her tie county shows that close grazing causes a heavier sod to be formed and this in turn helps to keep weeds chok ed out. A few sheep in the pasture are valuable to keep down weeds.
