The first event of our hike jwas when we arrived at Mr. Frank I Weaver's house we quietly slipped to his well and drew some water. Then; 'about a hundred yards farther a lit-j | tie dog started barking which made lus both hasten our steps. As we drew in front of the cdunty home we scar ed about five or six crows from their perch and at the same time we saw three mocking birds fighting. Then as we started through the woods for ourj mile hike, we suddenly were sur-' rounded by briars which gave us a' few scratches, but as a scout's motto j is "Be Prepared" we painted the scratches with iodine from a first aid kit I had. As we were coming out of the woods Mr. Pope came by and waved at us. So we reached Everetts which was our destination without any other hap|>enings. On the way back nothing happened except as we were wearily trudging homeward we scared up a flock of Bob Whites' in a field nearby.
