On Thursday at high noon the mar
' riage of Miss Martha Irene Harrison
' and Mr. Robert L. Coburn took place
l at the home of the bride's mother,
Mrs. T. F. Harrison, on Haughton
Street. Rev. F. VV. Weigman, pastor
of the Christian Church, officiated.
Only the families and a few friends of
the participating parties were present
at the wedding, which was a very
pretty and impressive one.
In the front parlor of the home an
j 'improvised altar was placed, before
which the vows .were taken. It was
| covered with ivy and smilax inter
mingled with freiszias, On each side
' of the altar were tall standards upon
' which tapers were placed, and these
shed a soft radiance over the back
ground of palms and ferns which com
pleted the decorations in that room.
In the reception hall roses ahd freezias
: were used with ivy and southern smi
lax.
Mrs. VV. C. Manning, Jr., rendered
a musical program prior to the en
trance of the wedding party, which
came in from the library.
I Misses Mildred Darden, of Kenlv,
and Yelma Harrison, a cousin of the
: bride, as bridesmaids, were the first
; to enter. Miss Darden wore a poppy
j colored chiffon gown and carried snap
dragons and yellow sweet peas. Miss
Harrison's gown was a blue chiffon,
and she carried an arm bouquet of
sweet peas and snapdragons.
Mrs. Ralph Parker, of Dunn, a sis
ter of the bride, was dame of honor.
She wore a green Chiffon gown and
carried an arm bouquet of pink roses
and sweet peas.
j The maid of honor, Miss Esther
KaVrison, was gowned in acquamarine
iblue chiffon and carried roses and
sweet peas.
The bride entered witfi her uncle,
Mr. 1 -ovett Biggs Harrison and wore
a becoming cutaway suit of tan with
sun tan accessories. She carried a
corsage of calla lilies. The groom was
accompanied by his brother, Mr. Hu
bert Coburn.
! Immediately after the ceremony, a
buffet luncheon was served. the wed
dfng party and invited guests, at the
Home of Mrs. Harrison. The bride
,and groom then left for a wedding
trip to New York and other northern
■ crties.
•The bride is one of Williamston's
finest young women. She is identi
fied with all social, civic, and church
activities of the town, and possesses
a very charming and winsome person
ality. She was educated at the Wil
liamston High School aud Atlantic
| Christian College. She is the daugh
ter of Mrs. T. I'. Harrison and the
late T. 1". Harrison.
| Mr, Cobur is one of the town's lead
l iug attorneys and is at present mayor
of the town. He attended the Uni
i versify of North Carolina and began
practicing law here in 1921. He is the
j son of the late VV. T. Coburn and wife,
of Hardens.
