Saturday, Oct. 22
This is going to be a big day in Williamston and Martin County. In ad
dition to the Hoover Cart parade, there will be a running race, in which 12
horses have been entered. These horses will be ridden bareback.
Four prizes will be given in this race: First prize, sls; second prize, $10;
third prize, $7.50; and fourth prize, $5.00.
Any one desiring to enter a horse in the race invited to do so. Just no
tify Henry Johnson at Robersonville.
• There will also be a mule-riding contest and .we will give a prize of $5
to the owner of any mule that our riders fail to ride.
PONY WILL BE GIVEN AWAY
A fine pony will be given away absolutely free to the boy or girl, under
14 years old, holding lucky number.

Handkerchief Shower
Mrs. R. L. Coburn entertained her
card club and a number of friends
on Thursday evening at her home on
Main Street. A handkerchief show
er was given Miss Eugenia Hoyt,
popular fall bride-elect.
The home was prettily arranged
for the affair, lovely fall flowers of
bright colors being used profusely.
Miss Ruth Manning made high
score for club members and Mrs. G.
H. Harrison for the guests. They
were given attractive prizes and then
the hon6f guest, Miss Hoyt, was pre
sented with a large doll, the colonial
costume of which was quantly made
by handkerchief gifts of the club
members and guests.
Punch was served during the eve
ning and a salad course followed by
tea and wafers after several progres
sions of bridge were played.
