Visiting Mrs. Knight
B. Haywood Knight and wife,
who were married last Saturday in
New York City, will spend the next
several days with the former's moth
er, Mrs. Ada B. Knight. Mrs. Knight
formerly Mrs. Louise 11. Ochs, is a
native of Newark, N. J., where her
family are prominent residents. Mr.
Knight is a consulting chemist, the
senior partner of the firm of Knight
& Clarke, with office in New York
City. While serving a large number
of clients as analytical and consult
ing chemists, they make a specialty
of shellac and its aplications and are
official chemists for the U. S. Shellac
! Importers and American Bleached
j Shellac Manufacturers' Associations.
These two organizations control the
importation and distribution of all
the shellac used in America.

In Town Monday
Dr. J. G. deR. Hamilton, of the
University of North Carolina, was in
town Monday in the interest of items
of local history,, Dr. Hamilton's
grandfather, J. B. G. Rhoulhac, was
born in Martin County and lived in
Martin and Bertie Counties until a
bout 1840, when he moved to Ra
leigh.

A telegram has been received here
announcing the marriage of Miss
Mary Louise Carstarphen to Mr.
Clyde Tallon, of Charlotte, in that
city last Thursday. No particulars
accompanied the wire, but it is un
derstood the bride and groom will
make their home in the Mecklenburg
capital.
Mrs. Tallon is the daughter of
Mrs. Fannie Carstarphen, of this
place, and has many friends through
. out this section.

McKeel-Johnson
Miss Hazel Johnson and Clayton
McKeel, both of this county, were
married by Judge J. C. Meekins in
Washington last Saturday night, only
a few close friends of the couple wit
nessing the ceremoijy.
Mrs. McK&iris the •daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson, of Pop
lar Point. Mr. McKeel is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. McKeel, of
Williamston. The young couple will
make their home here, where Mr.
McKeel is employed by the county
board of education in its mechanical
department.
Bowen-Ayers
Miss Ethel Mae Ayers, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Ayers, of
Williamston, and Williftn Bowen,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bowen, al
so of Williamston, were married in
the Methodist church at Suffolk Sat
urday morning, the Rev. Joseph T.
Allen, pastor, performing the cere
mony.
The young couple will make their
home With the bride's parents fol
lowing a short bridal tour.
The ceremony was witnessed by
only a few close friends of the
young couple, Mr. and Mrs. Fernan
da Bowen and Miss Vivian Harris
attending from this county.
