Courts This Week

Robersonville, November 10th. —
Suits, totalling $50,000 were insti
tuted m the Martin County Superior
court this week by Mrs. Lena Cochran
•gainst Dr. L. C. Mcßrayer, Southern
Pines doctor, to recover damages re
sulting from an automobile accident
in which the plaintiff's husb'atid was
fatally hurt and Mrs. Cochran and
son, Leighton, were painfully injured.
Mrs. Cochran is asking $30,000 dam
ages as the result of her husband's
death, SIO,OOO for personal injuries
sustained by her, and $»1(),000 for in
juries sustained by her soil, it was
learned filed by the plaintiff's attorn
eys, Smith and Horton, Tuesday of
this week.
Mrs. Cochran, who sutiered a brok
en leg and other painful injuries in
the wreck, is getting along as well as
could be expected, according to the
latest reports coming from her bed
side.
. Mr. Cochran was fatally liurt and
Mrs.' Cochran and her son were hurt
when the car in which they were rid
ing was struck by another driven by
Dr. Mcßrayer near here on Highway
No. 90, Sunday afternoon, October
23rd.

Beginning at a sweet gum in Noah
Slade's line on the Wild Cat road,
thence along said road to a stake near
ly in front of Mrs. Burrough's resi
dence, thence northwardly along Jean
nette Cowen's line to a swamp dog
wood in. Blanch Branch and Noah
Slade's line to the beginning, con
taining 183 acres, more or less, sit
uated in Williamston Township,
County aforesaid, adjoining the lands
of W. H. Rogers, Mrs. W. A. Bur
roughs, and others. It being the same
land conveyed to said J. G. Godard
by W. M. York, Walter York, and
Nottie York by deed dated 10th of
November and Ist of December, 1910,
of record in the Public Registry of
Martin County in Book YYY, at pages
410 and 421, which reference may be
had.
