' Recovering From Influenza W. C. Manning, jr., is recovering from an attack of influenza. Visiting Here Mr. and Mrs. Wallace C. Watson of Johnston, S. C., are spending some time here with his brother, Professor Wm. R. Watson and family. A nderton-Jackson • A wedding of much interest to a 1 large number of friends throughout Eastern North Carolina took place in Richmond, Va., last Saturday when Miss Catherine Jackson and Mr. Wilbur E. Anderton were married by the Rev. Mr. George Bellingrath, Presbyterian minister of that city. , J Only a few close friends and relatives ' were in attendance upon the cere mony. Mrs. Anderton is the popular young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Jackson, of Roanoke Rapids, where her father is secretary-treasurer of the Roanoke Mills Company. Mr. Anderton, son of Mrs. J. P. Ander ton, of Roanoke Rapids, is the pop ular head accountant of the local dis trict of the Virginia Electric and Pow er Company. After a short wedding trip to Washington and other points of in terest the young couple returned home Tuesday. Mrs. Anderson will join her husband here in the near fu ture. • Bridge Party for Bride ♦ One of the prettiest largest parties of the winter season was giv en at the Woman's Club last Tues day by S. Rhodes, Mrs. Rush Bondurant, and Miss Ruth Manning honoring Miss Lyda Cooke, who was married on Monday to Mr. Hugh Wyatt. Christmas decorations were used attractively, a brilliantly lighitd tree in the end of the hall completing an effective background for bridge tables where nearly a hundred guests played. Mrs. Warren H. Biggs, who held highest score, was given a book-end set. Mrs. N. C. Green and Mrs. Jesse Harrell received £n ice-box set and cards for second and third prizes. Refreshments carrying out the; Christmas appointments were served by the hostess, after which the guest of honor was invited to the tree, lad en with lovely gifts from the guests present. • Wyatt-Cooke Miss* Lyda Cooke and Mr. Hugh B. Wyatt were married at the home of the bride's parents here Monday afternoon with the Rev. Z. T. Piep hoff, Presbyterian minister, officiat ing. Only a few close friends of the contracting parties were in attend ance. Mrs. Wyatt, the attractive young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Cooke, of this place, is very popu lar throughout Eastern North Car olina, where she has a host of friends. Following her graduation from the local high school she entered active ly into the insurance business. C., on Febru ary 6, 1932, was announced here Christmas day, the young couple hav ing successfully kept the event a secret during that time. Miss Britton is the daughter of Mrs. Beulah Britton, of this place, where she is very popular among the younger set. Mr. Thomas is the ! young son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Thomas, of Bethel, where he is con nected with his father in business. The young couple are now at home in Bethel. e Daniel-Ed mondson With only a few immediate rela-j tives and intimate friends in attend ance, Miss Johnnie Frances Edmond-, sort became the bride of Mr. Wil-j liam Alton Daniel here last Sunday, afternoon, Rev. Chas. H. Dickey, Baptist minister, performing the ceremony at-the pastorium. Immediately following the cere mony, the young couple left for Vir ginia where they visited several places of interest, returning after a short stay there to make their home* in the Ewell house on Smithwickj Street here. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel are both well known to the younger people of this section. Mrs. Daniel is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Edmondson of this place. She was recently graduated from the Wil liamston High School. Mr. Daniel, son of Chief and Mrs; W. B. Daniel, also of this place, i$ prominently con nected with the Watts Theatre here.
