After the business session the mem
bers went into the kitchen and made
5-minutes cabbage, a quick and ap
petizing way to serve cabbage and
I creamed potatoes.
1 The hostess, assisted by Miss Vel
ima Griffin, served chicken salad
| sandwiches, pickles, cake, grape juice
and roasted peanuts.
While the guests were enjoying the
j refreshments, some one knocked on
i the door and called for Miss Velma
I Griffin, who is .|o be married soon.
' On opening the door she was show
'ered with rice, while little Sybil and
I Polly Peel enterted the room with a
| huge basket of miscellaneous gifts*
J The shower was a surprise to Miss
i Griffin, who is a popular young wo
man of this section. After the bride
elect opened the packages and ex
pressed her delight and surprise at
being remembered with so many use
ful gifts from her friends, she in
vited the club members to go to her
home on the 15th.
Entertains With Shower
On Wednesday, February 14, from
2 until S p. m., Mrs. William Har
dison entertained a number of friends
at a shower given complimentary to
Miss Velma Griffin, bride-elect.
Every one took part in the con
tests, which added fun to the occa
sion. Mrs. Lester Griffin was the
prize winner in the heart contest.
Then slips of paper were passed
to every one, giving each person
something to do. Miss Griffin was
the last one to read her slip. This
note sent her from place to place
until, after a long search, she found
a chest filled with useful gifts.
Mrs. Hardison served delicious
toasted sandwiches and coffee.—Re

Township, were married at the home
of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ira Griffin, last evening at 6:30 o'-
clock, with a large number of rela
tives and friends present for the cer
emony. Rev. W. B. Harrington,
Baptist minister, officiated.
Following the ceremony a big wed
ding supper was served by the bride's
parents.
Mrs. Griffin, after completing the
work in the schools of her communi
ty, attended the local high school,
graduating with the class of 1931.
Mr. Griffin is the son of Mr. Ed
Griffin, of Griffins Township, and

Home Betterment Club

The Home Betterment Club met
with Mrs. H. V. Wheeler Tuesday
afternoon. The attendance was near
ly 100 per cent. One new member
was added to the club. The subject
of the lesson was "Home Improve
ment." Miss Hurst gave a list of
suggestions on how to improve our
homes at the least expense.
She also appointed six committees,
two for exterior work, two for in
terior work, and two for the kitchen
They are to bring in new suggestions
concerping their work for the next
meeting, which will be held at the
fyme of M|rs. Hubert Smith on
Tuesday afternoon, February 20.
All members are urged to attend.
