Poplar Point Club

The regular meeting of the Poplar
Point Home Demonstration Club
was held at Mrs. Elmer Davenport's
on Friday, February 16. There were
in attendance 13 members, 4 visitors,
and 3 who joined at this meeting.
New leaders appointed at the meet
ing are as follows:
Mrs. Effie Holliday, garden leader.
Miss Vesta Bullock, music leader.
Miss Edna Hopkins, art leader.
The club appointed Miss Vesta
Bullock to act as recreation leader,
taking the place of Miss Mandy Ed
wards, who resigned.
This meeting was held very suc
cessfully in tlje absence of the home
agent by.two leaders who attended
Miss Mary E. Thomas' leaders'
school. Leaders for the club are Miss
Mae Holliday and Miss Edna Hop
kins.
The demonstration given by the
leaders was "Preparing Five-Minute
Cabbage," and "Making Creamed
Vegetables." The dishes were en
joyed by all. The next meeting will
be held with Mrs. R. S. Hester.
Legion Auxiliary
The regular monthly meeting of
the Woman's Auxiliary of the Amer
ican Legion Post, No. 163, was held
Saturday afternoon in the home of
Mrs. J. A. Ward. After the regular
business of the meeting had been dis
posed of, a very interesting program
was rendered. Miss Eva Peel gave
a commentary on Washington and
his farewell address, which was very
enjoyable. Mrs. Goodmon gave a
reading by Edward Markham, "Lin
coln, the Man of the People."
At the close of the program Mrs.
Ward served sandwiches and coffee.
The next meeting will be held on
I March 17 in the home of Mrs. J. W.
Andrews.
