Birthday Dinner
Quite a large crowd of relatives
and friends attended the surprise
birthday dinner given for Mrs. Mo
aella Williams who celebrated her
birthday recently. She received many
useful gifts and dinner was served in
the yard at the noon hour.

No Fines Are Imposed, But
Several Road Sentences

Activities in the Martin County Re
corder's cour were centered around
seven cases last Tuesday, the pro
ceedings being considered of little
consequence as a whole No fines were
imposed but several road sentences
were meted out by Judge H. O. I*eel
lit the absence of Solicitor II.
Coburn, Senator R. L. I oburn prose
cuted the docket.
Judgment was suspended in the cast
charging John Barnes with operat
ing a motor vehicle with improper
brakes.
K. 1). Smithwick, charged with an
assault with a deadly weapon, was
found not guilty.
J. J. Sills, charged with bastardy,
pleaded" guilty and was directed to
pay $18 costs to cover medical care
incident to the birth of twins, and $7
monthly during the next six mouths
?r\t the end of that time. Sills is to re
port to the court for further judg
ment. He was also ordered to pay th?*
costs of the vase.
Charged with an assault with a
deadly weapon and violating the li
quor laws, Henry Page was found not
H'tiilly on tin- liist count. but wa*
scntenced to the roads for thirty days
when guilt was established in the sec
ond incidence.
Eddie Salsbury drew six months on
the roads for larceny.
Crover Dixon was found guilty of
being drunk and disorderly and dam
aging property, the court sentencing
him to the roads for 30 days.
After hearing the evidence in the
case charging Norman Jones with re
sisting an officer, the court granted a
motion to dismiss the action.
