Severe Weather in Section Hindering Plant Bed Sowing Ground Frozen and Seeds Already Sowed May 1 Not Survive The severe weather prevailing in this section recently has greatly hin dered the planting and sowing of tobacco beds. As a rule, the seeds are sown dur ing the middle of January, and al though ground conditions have not been so favorable, reports coming in from yarious sections of the coun ty are to the effect that some few farmers have planted beds Unless the weather turns warmer nc plant beds will be sown this week. The ground is frozen and those who have planted their seed are afraid their work has been in tain, for there is little prospect of the seed enduring this weather. DID YOU GO LAST SUNDAY? Jcmu went every Sabbath. Don't you think we all xhould? Busy, weren't yea? Kinder like Martha. Jesus was the busiest man that ever lived. But He always found time to attend the services in the synagogue. Tired, worn out, weren't you, so you didn't fo. So was Jesus, many a time. But He had made the discovery that a tired, worn-out spirit was worse than a tired, worn-out body. He knew that the spiritual refreshment He would receive at the xynayoyue would do Him far more food than an extra hour's physical rest. It will you, too. Try it Sunday and see. Won't you? If you just must sleep, why not try the afternoon instead? A Christian was once heard to remark, "I don't feel quite riyht when I let Sunday pass without yoiny to church." There was a time when you felt that way, too, we feel sure. "Forsake not the osseinbliny of yourselves toy ether." GO TO CHURCH SUNDAY. Ability to Entertain Asset To Chauffeur Ability to entertain has its advan tages, even when one is a chauffeur. Take the case of Roy Murphy, col ored, of Plymouth, who is now chauf feur for S. M. Chase, president of the Chase National Bank in New York City. Murphy was chosen from a group of 25 applicants from an employment agency. His quar ters are on the Chase premises. In addition to his neat appearance Murphy has a smooth voice and is well educated. And he can sing and dance. Many times this former school teacher and dance-band lead er at a local resort, has resorted to his talents to entertain his employ ers. With piano accompaniment, Mur phy sings and dances fo rthe guests of the rich New . Yorkers. Mrs , Chase sometimes calls him "Bo jingles," after the well-known sing ing and dancing movie actor, Bill Robinson. ' The average production of 4-H corn club boys in Clay County last season was 67.5 bushels an acre, grown at an actual cost of about 35 cents a bushel.
