Pope, chairman of the Martin County Board of Commis sioners,' was in Washington today undergoing a physical examination in the Tayloe hospital there. He 1,'was accompanied by Dr. J. S. Rhodes. 4 From Cross Roads Mr. Simon Roberson, of Cross Roads, was here yesterday. He stat ed that blue mold was reported in a number of tobacco beds in his sec tion, but that no serious damage has been done by the disease so far. From Oak City Mr. Ben Worsley was here yester day from Oak City attending to bus iness matters. According to Mr. Worsley, McDonald is leading in the race for governor in that sec tion, but he explained that Hoey was annexing strength almost daily.
