To Attend Texas Centennial
Receiving an invitation from Dr.

citizen, Harry A. Biggs stated yes
terday that he planned to attend
the Texas Centennial osme time dur
ing the month of July. Mr. De
loatch, who came to North Carolina
last week as a representative of the
centennial committee and talked
with Governor Ehringhaus, lived in
Williamston when a boy. He worked
in a market for the late W. H. Leg
gett. He later went to Texas, where
lie maile good and now owns a ranch
of 14,000 acres. Mr. Deloatch was
a brother of a Methodist minister
who was pastor of the local church
a number of years ago.

her 58th anniversary Wednesday
afternoon, when her children com
plimented her with a surprise birth
day party. The honoree received
many attractive presents. The aft
ernoon was thoroughly enjoyed by
about 80 guests. Iced lea and cake
were served.

cake and tea to about 80 guests.

The children, brothers and sisters
of Mrs. W. L. Jones gave her a
real picnic dinner at her home Sun
day, her 54th birthday.
The sumptuous dinner was served
in real picnic style. Besides the large
number of neighbors and friends,
there were present 11 children, 24
grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchil
dren, also a number of brothers and
sisters and their wives and husbands.
,About 200 guests were present,
including some from Norfolk, Eliza
beth City, Kinston and numerous
sections of this county.
