door by the hostesses and Mrs. R
A. Phillips, of Kinston, and were
directed to their places by Mrs. El

Crawford received a plaque for

The color scheme of green and
white was used both for the decora
tions of the house and the refresh
ments. Pine, ivy, fern and white
pine cones were profusely used
throiufhoul the house . At the refresh
ment hour tables were spread with
white covers, and in the center of
each was placed a white candle, the
base of which was decorated with
fern and a sprig of a fall plant which
had been dipped in white paint.

church parsonage several days ago
when Miss Agnes Phelps became the
bride of Mr. John W. King
Mrs. King is the daughter of Mr
and Mrs. Albert Phelps, of Roper,
N. C
Mr. King is a recruiting officer
of the United States Navy and has
recently been transferred from
Norfolk, Va., to Lexington, Ky.,
where Mr. and Mrs. King will make
their home.
MITCHELL-ROBEKSON
Last night at 9:30 at the home of
Mr and Mrs. S. Rome Biggs on
Watts Street, Miss Carrie Roberson
and Mr. Bernard Gordon Mitchell
were married. Rev. John L. Goff of
ficiated in the presence of only a
few intimate friends and relatives.
Mrs. Mitchell is the daughter of
Mr Eli Hoyt Roberson and the late
Mrs. Fannie Peel Roberson and is a
granddaughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs Asa Tom Peel. Her family on
both sides have been residents of
Martin County for several genera
tions. She has been a superintendent
~uf nurifeS of a Builingtuii huspitafr
having graduated from the Wash
ington hospital several years ago.
Mr. Mitchell is the son of -the
late Mr and Mrs. James H Mitchell
of Philadelphia, his father having
been a leader in real estate business
in that city dtirmg his lifetime.
He is a civil engineer with head
quarters at Greensboro He is a Ki
wanian and is state chairman of
athletics of the American Legion.
They left to visit relatives before
1 eturning to Greensboro where they
will make their home.
