The Kiwanis club played host
the local ball club, its manager,
Skipper Paul aO'Malley, and the
owners and sponsors of the local
club, Messrs. Dawson and Eason Lil
ley here last night
Mayor Hassell welcomed the club
in lus usual appropriate and timely
way and went far in making the
boyr. fcel-fft home. The mayor wa^
warm in his praise of the manager,
the club, and the owners, and Bruce
Wynne, in introducing Eason and
Dawson Lilley, made it plain thai
they were entirely responsible for
baseball being in Williamston this
season.
The players were introduced by
Mr O'Malley and when Umpires
Fred Thomas arid Tom Hanna were j
called on, Mr. Hanna spoke for both ;
of them. Mr. Hanna recognized over |
the entire league as a splendid citi
zen and an excellent umpire, made
brief statements that were both com
plimentary to the manager and to
the fans of this town and section.
