Swain and Ar thur White were joint hostesses to the American Legion Auxiliary and their invited guests. Punch and wafers were served in the auxiliary room by the hostesses' daughters. ?" Mrs. John A. Ward, read the annual report of the unit's activities. Mrs W. H. Gray gave a short but very interesting talk on Fidac, stressing the seven points of Fidac, the major on work for peace. The following officers were elect ed unanimously: president, Mrs. C. A. Davenport; second yice president, Mrs. W J. Beach, and chaplain, Mrs. J. R. Winslow Delegates to the state convention to be held in Raleigh soon are Mrs. Davenport and Mrs Mack Wynne as alternate. The program for the day was in charge of the music department. Mrs. C. Davenport and Mrs. C. L. Wilson presented a program in hon-' or of the beloved composer, Stephen Collins Foster. The stage was beau tifully decorated and depicted the Federal Hill Garden of Mrs. Rowan, of Kentucky. Mrs. Wilson introduc ed, the characters and Miss Eva Peel in a very gracious manner gave the life of Stephen Foster. "Each of the characters in the cast were dressed in Costume of the per iod and the plantation singers made a hit with their black faces. Each and every number was beautifully rendered. The members of the aux iliary and their guests fully enjoyed such a musical treat as has seldom t>een given in the county and much credit goes to Mrs. Davenport and Mrs Wilson in arranging the pro gram. The next meeting will be held the first Saturday in July with Mrs. V A Ward and Mrs. C. L.
